Updating Objects in the RIPE Database
Authorised users can create, modify, or delete objects in the RIPE Database in order to maintain accurate registration information. Updates can be submitted through several supported interfaces, including email, web forms, synchronous services, and a RESTful API. Each object in an update request is processed individually by the database software.
During processing, the RIPE Database applies a series of validation checks, including syntax, authorisation, referential integrity, and policy compliance. An object is only accepted if all required checks are satisfied; otherwise, it is rejected with an appropriate error message. This section explains how update requests are structured, how objects are processed, and which rules apply when maintaining data in the RIPE Database.
